I write about bars, bartenders, and drinks.
I’ve worked in the drinks and bar industry for 20 years, as a bartender, as a wine and spirits buyer, and today as a writer and editor. I’m the editor of industry monthly Australian Bartender magazine (and its website ); I’ve also written for international publications Drinks International, The Spirits Business, and Imbibe UK and my two cents on Sydney appeared in the 2017 book Straight Up: The insiders’ guide to the world’s most interesting bars and drinking experiences.
I’m currently the Australasian panel chair for the World’s 50 Best Bars, I serve on Tales of the Cocktail’s Spirited Awards judging panel, was the head judge of the Australian Distilled Spirits Awards for three years, and I have judged more cocktail competitions than I can remember.
Once I was listed as one of the top 10 cocktail and spirits writers in the world at Tales of the Cocktail’s Spirited Awards, which I thought was neat. Each year I host the prestigious Bartender Magazine Bartender of the Year competition before an audience of 650 people.
